I just stumbled across this site while looking for the Hibbard coat of arms and being a Hibbard living in Wiltshire am interested to read all the stuff about the Hibbards who came from Wiltshire in the 17th Century.
I haven't done any research into my family tree (although am beginning to think I should after reading all this!) but does any one have any info on Wiltshire Hibbards? I'm wondering if it would be possible to join up my family with those who left?

Hi Duncan, what are you doing with a Scottish christian name!
My line comes from Wiltshire and Berkshire.
Early Hibbard comes from Little Somerford in 1685.
My Grandfather came from Westbury, born 1874.
What have you got.
My private email address is lhibbard@xtra.co.nz, this will get a faster response.
Duncan I hope there may be a link.

Hi Duncan,
I just found your entry which interested me. My Great great grandfather was sent to Australia in 1832 and came from Wiltshire. According to his death certificate his father was William and mother was Ann and that is all I know at present. I have a man searching trials trying to find more.
Regards and all the best for 2007,
Mauzie

Hi Mauzie, I replied to Duncan too.
I have a William in Wiltshire and Berkshire and the only one I can trace back to is my G-G-G-Grandfather William b1754 in Berks.
His Grandfather Daniel had 4 boys born in Wiltshire in the early 1700's 1 was another Daniel his father, but his children were all born in Berkshire.
My email address in case I lose this favorite site again is lhibbard@xtra.co.nz.
Regards,
Les

Re: Hibbards in Wiltshire UK
Hello Duncan,
Most of the Hibbards in the USA descend from Robert Hibbard who came to America 1635-1636 and landed in Salem, Massachusetts.
Robert was born 18 Mar 1612; baptized 13 Mar 1613 at St. Edmunds, Salisbury, Whilshire, England; died 7 May 1684 in Beverly, Essex County, Massachusetts. He is the son of John (1583-1618) and Joane (Fairfield) Hibbard. He married Joanna (believed to be Luffe) in Sep 1640.
I have a difficult time reading the old English script, and haven't done much research in England for that reason, but would love to know more! I visited Salisbury a few years ago, before I found out Robert was baptized at St. Edmund's, so hope I get to visit again sometime! I am sure there is a treasure trove of material there!
If you can share anything with me, please reply here, or my direct email is RhondaHCarter@gmail.com
